Former Chelsea football club of England forward, Timo Werner was incredible today for GermanBundesliga giant Rasenballsport Leipzig in their fifth game of the ongoing UEFA Champions League campaign at home against Carlo Ancelotti led Real Madrid team at the Red Bull Arena.
The 26 year old started the game from the bench due to tactical reason having just returned from injury but was introduced in the second half for Mohamed Simakan and he was able to play his part and also contributed his quota in the keenly contested encounter.
Timo Werner after his introduction into the game was clinical for the host at the heart of the forward line where he was a big threat in the opposition box and as such scored a brilliant goal which was instrumental in the three goals to two scoreline at full time.
The host in the first half took a double lead courtesy of goals from Josco Gvardiol and Christopher Nkunku in the 13th and 18th minute of the game to make it two goals to nil, before the visitor got the deficit reduced with a goal from Vinicius Junior in the 44th minute to make it two goals to one going into the half time break.
The tempo of the game got tensed up between the two sides in the second half as they both put up some incredible displays with the host getting their lead extended in the 81st minute courtesy of a goal from Timo Werner to make it three goals to one, before the Carlo Ancelotti’s side put one more back in the late minute to the end of the game via penalty as Rodrygo Goes put the ball away from the spot to end the game three goals to two.
Timo Werner with his incredible performance against the Los Blancos will now be hoping to keep the tempo going for his team in their next game as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
