Manchester United have already signed veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a free loan, while the arrival of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is imminent
Manchester United are aiming to win their first trophy with coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, after failing in the Premier League and Europa League last season.
United finished second in the league, 12 points behind winner Manchester City, and were defeated on penalties by Villarreal in Europe.
Speaking after the defeat, Solskjaer revealed that the club intends to bring “two or three” new players into the summer transfer window.
United have already signed experienced goalkeeper Tom Heaton for free, and the signing of Jadon Sancho is expected to be officially confirmed shortly.
More transfers are expected, as well as a lot of spending, and with that in mind, Mirror Football has compiled the latest Manchester United transfer news.
Goretzka “offer of contract”
United are reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to a report by Sport Bild.
The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his current contract and negotiations for an extension have stalled with Goretzka, demanding an annual salary of around £17 million. Bayern’s latest offer was £10m, well below these demands.
Given the uncertainty surrounding Goretzka’s future, United would have made a “concrete offer” to the player’s representatives, which would give him the salary increase he seeks.
Van de Beek Transfer position
Donny van de Beek was transferred from Old Trafford this summer after struggling for a while last season.
Van de Beek has played just four Premier League games and clubs across Europe are said to be interested in signing him.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Van de Beek wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
The report quotes sources close to Van de Beek as saying he is “fit, fresh and up to the challenge” for the upcoming campaign.
