In recent years, RB Leipzig have progressed leaps and bounds as a club capable of battling with the very best. And a huge part of their identity as a major force has emerged due to their handling of youth talent.
One such talent is Ibrahima Konate. The 21-year-old is a monstrous presence in the back four and with his tactical intelligence, Konate has the ability to become of one the most feared defenders in Bundesliga and possibly whole of Europe.
Chelsea have been touted as a possible destination for the youngster. Sport BILD’s Christian Falk suggested in his tweet that Tuchel’s assistant coach at Chelsea, Zsolt Low, knows Konate quite well during his time at Leipzig and might play a part in luring him to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have previously also been linked with Konate’s teammate Dayot Upamecano, who confirmed a move last month to Bayern Munich at the end of the season. David Alabais another player on Chelsea’s shortlist.
Konate can excel as a dynamic centre-back in the right team setting, as he is capable of helping the team out during counter attacks and set-piece situations.
But one factor that may put off Chelsea’s interest is Konate’s fitness concerns. The youngster is injury prone. He will have to work much twice as much to make a mark in the Premier League
